How Leadership Influences Change in Organizations

Very often people associate leadership with work and they always want either to be good leaders or to be run by good leaders. At the present time, the subject of leadership is very popular and provokes a lot of discussions. Everyone wants to be a leader in the family, at work, in society, or a circle of friends, etc. However, not all people know that it is difficult to be a good leader and one should learn how to become the best boss. Therefore, leadership can positively and negatively influence the changes in organization.

High productivity, successful organizational process, and a change in organizations depend on a leader. It is important for leaders to know their abilities because their role is to organize people and be the role models for imitation. Some people are born with the abilities to be leaders; other can learn how to become a leader. An effective leader knows his or her abilities and possibilities. However, it does not mean that he or she should stop developing and learning. The effective leader is better than others. He/she always trains and practices in order to achieve the goals and influence other people (Alldredge, 2003).

As a rule, people are divided into leaders and their followers. There are those who want to run other people and differ from an ordinary person. Effective leadership is the basis for the successful existence of organization with all changes in it. It helps business organizations and companies to properly function. The absence of leadership has a negative impact as without leadership the organizations and companies do not develop, but degrade.

Without doubt, leaders have an impact on the changes in organizations. Leadership is the quality that incites to make decisions and solve problems. A good leader makes everything possible in order to make the organization the most successful. He takes care of the employees’ interests of the organization. The common goals can be achieved by cooperation, collaboration, and a good activity of a leader (Hughes, 2012).

Nowadays the weaknesses of leaders can make any organization suffer because leaders sometimes behave selfishly, pompously, and impudently. They take care of their own interests and desires forgetting that they should follow another aim in their lives. It is crucial for a leader to know his/her abilities, skills, and values in order to understand what to demand from other people. With a good reason, Warren Bennis states that “recognizing strength and amends for weaknesses represents the first step in reaching positive self-respect” (Bennis, 2007).

Leadership is more concerned with people than management because the main role of every leader is to work with people, control them, organize their work, and stimulate them to reach the best results. The development and success of an organization depends on Human Resource Management and this is the leader who should identify his or her own potential as well as other people’s abilities.

There is nothing strange that at the present time an organizational strategy is the main plan of actions for every company. First of all, any company should have its strategic plan which should not be always similar. It should change according to the certain circumstances such as competition on the market and leader of the company. This is the leader who shows his/her peculiarities of work with the help of organizational management.

Leadership also influences change in organization when i comes to the forming of human resources; his/her aim is to find the right person who can bring success to the company. Without doubt, the employer, being a leader of a company, chooses the best person for this position. His/her strategy is success, good work and the development of his/her company. The next employer’s desire is to organize the work in a way he/she wishes. Actually, a leader chooses Resource Management Strategy on his or her own (Bass, 1990).

In conclusion, one should mention that leadership influences a strategy of the organization, which can be successful when the members of the team and their leader focus on the organization’s values, friendly atmosphere, effective interpersonal and teamwork relationships. Leadership should make an organization learn and to think “strategically.” However, one should have a strong wish and do everything in order to achieve the desired results.
